North Lincolnshire is a great place to live and work, with outstanding schools, masses of green space and affordable housing, there really is nowhere better. It is a largely rural authority with Scunthorpe as the main centre of services and facilities, picturesque villages and towns (such as Brigg and Epworth) and within easy reach of Lincoln, the Greater Lincolnshire seaside resorts, Yorkshire and the wider East Midlands. This is a permanent post under the management of the Place Planning Specialist. We seek a thoughtful and enthusiastic individual to join the team and help us review the statutory development plan for North Lincolnshire by producing and adopting a new Local Plan.

The post holder will also have a role to play in producing design codes, supplementary plans and guidance, as well as supporting on Neighbourhood Planning. In a Unitary Authority you will also have the opportunity to be involved in the full range of planning policy issues, from housing and employment development to planning for minerals and waste operations. We pride ourselves on getting the job done through supporting each other in overcoming all the challenges adopting a Local Plan can bring.

As a career graded post, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated experienced Planning Officer seeking a new challenge, or a newly qualified (or close to qualification) graduate in a related field seeking to start their career in planning policy. You will be well organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative to meet deadlines, and will require excellent communication and co-ordinating skills. For this post a background in any town and country planning field will be considered.

Joining our progressive and welcoming authority will bring a range of benefits, including: free car parking close to our offices, attractive relocation package, comprehensive induction, excellent CPD opportunities, Local Government Pension Scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, discounted leisure membership packages, range of salary sacrifice schemes and flexible and agile working arrangements.

Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.
