The governors of our friendly school are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and energetic SENDCO to join the Senior leadership team and to work as part of a committed, hardworking and happy federation.

It is our intention to ignite a real love of learning by providing a rich, varied and exciting curriculum that meets the needs of each and every individual, working through our Church school vision and Christian Values.

This post is a permanent position. Employed by the St Barnabas and St Helena’s C of E Federation, the position is for the federation, with time spent at both sites in order to fully undertake the role of SENDCO. 

We are looking for a practitioner who is confident in leading in SEND and is committed to supporting children, staff and parents across the schools. The right person for the role will also have some leadership experience, understanding how to drive school improvement in SEND, deliver CPD and monitor progress. The successful candidate will have an understanding of data analysis, monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and a commitment to building positive relationships with all stakeholders. 

The role will also include some part-time teaching responsibilities. The phase taught can be discussed based on individual experience. We may consider this a part-time role for the right person. 

Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or a Designated Teacher for Children in Care is desirable. 

We are looking to appoint someone who:

• is an outstanding practitioner with a creative approach and determination to raise standards;

• has high expectations for pupil achievement and conduct and able to lead by example;

• has the determination and drive to make sure all pupils are actively involved in their learning and are guided and supported well, to ensure they become the best they can be;

• has good interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate those around you;

• is able to lead staff in their development and deliver CPD as needed;

• is organised and prepared, but can adapt to the needs of the Federation;

• is committed to building positive relationships with all stakeholders;

• has a strong SEND background and is full qualified for the role, (NPQSEND or equivalent)
