Senior Residential Officer

Salary: Grade 8 £18,062 to £20,238 per year
Location Kingfisher Lodge, Scunthorpe
Hours: 18 hours 30 minutes per week
DBS: Yes Enhanced with Barred List Check

We are looking for a Senior Residential Officer to work alongside our Leadership Team and dedicated team of Residential Officers at Kingfisher Lodge and Beck Lodge in Scunthorpe. 

We are looking for a strong team player with experience in residential childcare and demonstrates leadership qualities, an individual that is highly motivated, reflective, and creative.

The candidate will have experience supporting risk and a staff team, someone who is well organised, efficient and a confident decision maker.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or young people and an understanding of the challenges our children may face and be flexible in working times to meet the needs of children living in the home.

We are looking someone who takes a relational approach to practice. Any successful applicant will need to have a level3/4 in residential childcare or equivalent or be prepared to complete this whilst in post, for those that already hold this the successful applicant will be supported to complete The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare as part of their ongoing personal and professional development. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
•    To lead a team alongside the managers to create a family style home environment that promotes a positive respect for children and young people ensuring they feel safe and valued.
•    To provide care as outlined within each child or young person's individual Care Plan. This may include providing outreach support away from the home.
•    Comply with and take a lead responsibility to ensure day to day compliance relevant legislation, organisational policies, and procedures in day-to-day practice.
•    Provide regular supervision and appraisals to an allocated number of casual staff. This will include the monitoring of caseloads and the allocation and timescales for day-to-day work to ensure both the delivery of an outstanding quality service and personal and professional development.
•    Support the homes managers to operate frameworks for quality assurance, using agreed performance standards.
•    To develop and maintain strong partnerships with children and young people, parents, carers, other provisions, the community, visiting professionals, independent visitors, and inspectors to deliver holistic care to children living in the home.
•    Promote communication with young people, parents/carers and other professionals to identify positive solutions to current issues and advocate for the young person as required
•    Will need to be flexible in their time management and able to prioritise their work schedule to ensure that whilst all work is completed the safeguarding of the young people is the priority.
•    Maintain detailed and accurate case records and case management systems in line with organisational policy and procedures.
•    Take responsibility for advanced and specific areas of work, utilising professional knowledge and skills to aid the development of outstanding practice.
•    Within the scope of their role the post holder will be involved in the development of the provision and make suggestions on how systems and processes could be more efficient and effective.
•    The post holder will be required to maintain detailed and accurate records.
•    Responsible for day- to-day financial processes, including petty cash and raising orders and invoices as required.
