Student Welfare Officer

Salary: Grade 4, £17,500 to £18,642 per year
Location Riverview Family of Schools Baysgarth, Barton upon Humber
Hours: 30 hours 30 minutes per week, term time only plus 5 training days
DBS: Yes Enhanced with Barred List Check

This is a Permanent, Part Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team to work  as a Student Welfare Officer as part of our Inclusion Team.

The role of Student Welfare Officer is key in providing support for students who need help in overcoming barriers to learning and developing their potential by raising standards of behaviour for learning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • To be the first response to students through the On Call system for everyday issues and appropriately triage and follow up matters, to ensure issues are resolved
  • To carry out investigations into reports of poor behaviour and make the necessary recommendations and actions
  • To ensure the behaviour management system is implemented consistently, through providing support and guidance to staff
  • To supervise the Isolation Room, ensuring students follow the Isolation rules and expectations
  • To ensure appropriate learning programmes are in place for all students who complete an Isolation placement
  • To maintain effective records of behaviour incidents and the appropriate actions
  •  To coordinate all referrals to isolation and communicate this effectively to all stakeholders
  • To maintain effective records of behaviour incidents and the appropriate action                

The following qualifications and experience are essential:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above
  • Experience of working with students
  • Good ICT skills
  • Tact and persuasive skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)                                                   

Baysgarth School is currently an 11-16 comprehensive with over 1,000 students on roll.
