Our client is looking for two personal assistants to support their son, who requires support with recreational activities, accessing the community and some personal care. He has Autism and sensory processing disorder and requires support in a 2:1 capacity. He is officially nonverbal, but has good understanding, uses communication aids and has developed limited speech over the last year.

The successful candidates should be physically able to safely and appropriately manage challenging behaviours, be reliable and communicate clearly and concisely. Our client’s son is physically strong and tends to look for ways to run away and escape environments; so it is extremely important for the successful candidates to be alert at all times.

Our client’s son is a very interactive and social character who has a great sense of humour. He enjoys swimming, farm activities, museums, being outdoors, sensory activities and is a talented IT enthusiast. Routine is of the utmost importance to our client’s son, so it is vital that the successful candidates are mindful of punctuality and consistency.

The role is 2 hours per day Monday to Friday, as well as 9 hours per week term time and 12 hours per week during half term, paid at £12.66ph. The hours to be worked outside of school hours on evenings and weekends, specifics to be negotiated with the employer upon appointment.
