The Vacancy
Do you believe that long-term change happens when systems, places and people work and learn together?
This role exists to lead a bold, place-based programme in North Lincolnshire — one rooted in co-production, systems leadership and a commitment to reducing inequalities and improving health outcomes for local residents.
As Strategic Programme Lead, you will shape and steward the long-term vision of the programme, ensuring it is grounded in local priorities while aligned with Sport England’s Uniting the Movement strategy. This is not about delivering isolated projects. It’s about changing the conditions that shape everyday life, so that being active becomes easier, fairer and more sustainable for everyone.
About the Role
You will provide strategic leadership for the development and early delivery of the Sport England Place Expansion programme in North Lincolnshire.
Working across a complex system, you will bring together partners, insight and learning to design a programme that reflects local need, lived experience and opportunity. You will lead through influence rather than authority — creating the space for collaboration, shared ownership and long-term change.
You will be expected to work flexibly and collaboratively, contributing to wider projects and activity that align with the purpose and responsibility of the role.
About You
You are a strategic, values-led leader who is comfortable working with complexity, ambiguity and long-term change.
You bring
Significant experience leading place-based or system-change programmes.
A deep understanding of health inequalities, physical activity, prevention and community-led approaches.
Confidence influencing across sectors and at senior levels without relying on formal authority.
Experience of governance, commissioning, evaluation and programme management.
A strong belief in co-production, learning and shared leadership.
Most of all, you are motivated by impact — creating the conditions for healthier, more active lives and reducing inequalities in a way that lasts.
This duration of this post will initially be for 12 months, with the anticipation this will be extended dependent on further external funding.
Closing date for applications: 16 March 2026
Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.
