At Sir John Nelthorpe School, we believe that every pupil deserves the support they need to flourish. We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive support team from Easter 2026. If you are patient, resourceful, and driven by the "lightbulb moments" in a pupil's learning journey, you’ll fit right in.
The Heart of the Classroom
As a Teaching Assistant, you aren't just an observer; you are the bridge between a pupil’s challenge and their success. You will work closely with our teaching staff to ensure no child is left behind.
Tailored Support: Work 1-on-1 or with small groups to break down complex tasks into manageable steps.
Remove Barriers: Support pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) to access the curriculum fully.
Boost Confidence: Act as a mentor and motivator, helping students build the self-esteem they need to participate.
Track Progress: Help monitor student development and provide feedback to teachers and parents.

About You:
Whilst previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred it is not essential however you should have a genuine passion for working with young people and helping them succeed. You will need excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Have patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
You will have a good standard of general education including Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE grade C or higher or equivalent) and will have achieved a recognised teaching assistant qualification at Level 2 or equivalent.
