We are seeking three motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Highway Project Delivery team as Apprentice Engineers. This is a career grade opportunity, with all successful applicants starting at Grade 2, and progressing through the grades (up to Grade 4) as they develop their skills, experience and qualifications. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a diverse highway programme of works, including:
• Highway maintenance and improvement schemes
• Integrated transport and active travel
• Bridges, drainage and flood risk management

What you’ll be doing

Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will develop practical skills across all aspects of highways engineering, including:
• Assisting with site surveys, inspections and data collection
• Supporting the production of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and GIS
• Helping prepare contract documentation, reports and technical information
• Maintaining project records and responding to public enquiries
• Supporting scheme design, costing and delivery activities as your experience
• Contributing to project delivery, safety audits and asset management work as you progress

What we’re looking for: 

• 4 GCSEs (including Maths, English and Science) at level 4 or equivalent (or is predicted to achieve these grades).
• A strong interest in civil engineering, highways or construction
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to use IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office; CAD desirable)
• Willingness to learn and work towards relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 3, HNC/HND)
• A proactive approach, with the ability to solve problems and manage time effectively
