To commence January 2027

Are you passionate about The Arts? Do you have the creativity and vision to inspire students and foster a love of the Arts?

Our students are truly exceptional – intelligent, articulate, funny, and welcoming. They value the support and care they receive, and they deserve nothing less than the very best. We are committed to ensuring they experience this consistently, in every aspect of school life, every single day.

We are a true comprehensive school which is built on strong family values, where everyone is seen, recognised and valued. This has led to us becoming one of the most successful and oversubscribed schools in the region. To continue to fulfill our ambitions for our students we need outstanding staff who are dedicated, passionate, dynamic, caring and inspiring. We firmly believe we have a world-class staff team, and we're excited to welcome an outstanding Deputy Head of the Arts to the school.

We are proud of the Arts provision at Baysgarth with Drama, Dance, Music and Art being fully embedded into our curriculum at KS3, with exceptional recruitment at KS4. We know the importance of these subjects and the richness of skills and opportunities they can bring to students and therefore it is a key foundation of our curriculum.

Due to the diverse nature of subjects that comprise The Arts Faculty, we seek to appoint a deputy lead to work with the current Head of faculty to continue to grow this area. You will have a key role in ensuring that the curriculum remains innovative, with a broad enrichment offer including work experience, ensuring we create the artists, dancers and actors of the future.

We are especially interested in candidates whose specialism includes Art, Photography or Graphics.

In addition our staff are all expected to have strong inclusive values and play a significant pastoral role, ensuring all our students feel cared for. We pride ourselves on strong relationships with students and the role of the form tutor is the most important one for each student.

In return, the successful applicant will become part of a school community built on strong family values, where staff are well-supported, well-resourced, and genuinely appreciated. This includes:

-      Sensible, manageable workload policies and a recognition of the importance of work-life balance. and as such our staff community thrives with excellent staff retention.

-       The chance to work in a setting where your impact on young lives is valued – not just in academic success, but in emotional and social wellbeing too.

-       A welcoming school where everyone – staff and students alike – are treated with dignity and respect

-       A culture where staff wellbeing is a priority, and everyone is encouraged, valued, and backed by leadership

-       Outstanding resources and facilities

-    Community based school who recognise the important role the school plays in the town

-    Strong leadership at all levels which seeks to involve staff in decision making

-       Bespoke CPD programme for every member of staff, based on individual needs and aspirations. This post would be suitable for someone considering training to teach, which can be supported.

Whether you are an experienced Art and Photography teacher or a talented educator with the creativity, passion, and drive to inspire young people through photographic and visual arts, we would love to hear from you!
