Finance & Administration Officer

Salary: Grade 4 - £25,583 to £27,254 per year
Location: Church Square House, Scunthorpe
Hours: 37 hours per week

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

An opportunity has arisen for a Finance and Administration Officer to join the Financial Assurance & Debt Management Team.

The Finance & Admin Officer works with care providers, care professionals and customers (in person or indirectly) to ensure the council meets its statutory and contractual duties for payments and income collections relating to its care and support services.  

The work is varied and includes:

  • Providing specialist operational and financial administrative support
  • Providing technical knowledge of adult social care finance processes
  • Using the central finance system to raise orders and invoices, look up income collection and debt
  • Keeping case management systems up to date
  • Supporting customers with more specialist tasks such as financial assessments, collecting and returning documentation and basic direct payment audits
  • Telephone cover for Customer Financial Services
  • Dealing with routine and sensitive financial issues for customers through good negotiation and mediation skills
  • Negotiating and implementing payment plans to recover debt;
  • Maintaining records of customer contact
  • Ensuring that suspected adult protection safeguarding issues and escalated through appropriate channels.

The post holder will need to be:

  • Able to work in a busy team,
  • Positive and supportive to others
  • Organised and manage their own work priorities
  • Competent in dealing with various different people
  • Meticulously accurate in their work.

Our customers are council colleagues and members of the public.  We speak to people, families and representatives on a daily basis so customer care skills are very important.  The successful candidate would receive ongoing support and training so they can provide a good standard of service to our customers.
